The beginning of the trail
This trail is located close to the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Moore Avenue. and is directly across from Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  Despite the close proximity to the dead, the trail is actually very atmospheric.  It follows a tributary of the Don River called the Mud Creek, which runs alongside the trail, providing a very picturesque landscape and some gorgeous photo opportunities.  The trail also runs through the Evergreen Brick Works and the Mount Pleasant Arboretum, both areas (the former especially) highly favoured by many walkers and bikers alike.  Mount Pleasant itself is the final resting place of many prominent Canadians (such as William Lyon Mackenzie King) and is very well kept.  There are several bridges, and a lot of opportunity for exploring the area, including some off the trail opportunities as well as several different branching paths.

Storm drain near the trail
When entering the Moore Park Ravine Trail from the Moore Avenue entrance, the first thing encountered was an extremely steep .  This would be difficult for anyone with a stroller or wheelchair who wished to enter the trail.  However, other entrances, such as the Brickworks do have paved and flatter entrances, which are better suited for those with strollers or wheelchairs.  There were several other areas which were quite steep as well, although this changes in other areas of the trail, where the terrain flattens a little.

Mud Creek
There are a few things to be considered which do take away from the overall trail experience.  Firstly, the trail is not completely paved, which highly impedes.  As well, at this time it was muddy, which was a little disconcerting for anyone with holes in their shoes or lacking the proper footwear, both categories of which I fell into during .  As well, despite the small waterway, the trail was mostly vegetation, which became rather uninspiring to look at.

That being said however, when I personally hiked the trail , I found it a highly enjoyable experience.  We had a lot of fun going closer to the stream despite the long climb back to the top, which was thin enough to hop over in certain spots.  The vegetation was also extremely pretty in certain spots and I found a lot of opportunity to take pictures!  This trail is great for anyone looking for a challenge while hiking a trail or just a pleasant day out with family and friends. Overall I really liked this trail, and I look forward to hiking it again!

  1. I liked this review a lot Alexa! I hope you can take me there sometime. The pictures were great and the weather looks beautiful. For the record I would score the difficulty at easy peasy lemon squeeze but not everyone can be as cool as me :(
