The East Don Trail in East Don Parkland is a lengthy trail, spanning nearly the distance from Sheppard to Steeles. A series of paths branch off from the main trail, leading into the surrounding neighbourhoods. The trail follows the East Don River, with the soft murmuring of the river accompanying the visitor as they move along the trail. Through the trees, visitors are able to see the tall buildings of the city. A few bridges near the entrance of the trail allow visitors to enjoy the river and the view. Additionally, due to the trail's proximity to the river, visitors are able to admire the river up close and rest along its banks. Large stones provide the ideal resting spots.
We walked the trail during late afternoon over the weekend in March. While the trail did not feel crowded, there were many people walking, jogging, or biking along it, with most appearing to be residents of the area. The road is well-maintained, and the trail occasionally follows some small slopes.
With the exception of the river, the trail was not particularly scenic, although it will look very different in the warmer months when the vegetation sprouts. However, the trail is perfect for those out for a casual stroll or exercise.
